Having a Bangladesh birth registration certificate is a pre-requisite for an applicant applying for a Bangladesh Machine Readable Passport (MRP) for the first time. Someone having an MRP, therefore, has the certificate. However, someone having an old Bangladesh passport and does not have the certificate can apply for registration.  The birth registration certificate contains a 17 digit number which is unique for every person. The registration can be done once.


Requirements for Birth Registration at the Assistant High Commission:

  1. Duly filled-in birth registration application form. 

  2. One recent passport-size colour photograph.

  3. Original Bangladesh passport along with photocopy (page 1-7).


For applicants who were not born in Bangladesh and does not have Bangladesh passport should submit the following:

  • Applicants detailed birth certificate having parent’s names on it issued by the concerned authorities.

  • Applicant’s parent’s Bangladesh passports and photocopies.

  • Fee: £4.00

By debit card only (If the application is submitted in person)

By postal order/by debit card over telephone (If the application is sent by mail. A return envelop has to be provided with the application
